This Privacy Policy explains how Boone for Congress ("the Committee," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit this website, sign up for updates, volunteer, RSVP to an event, or make a contribution.
1. Information we collect
We collect information in three ways:
- Information you give us through forms. When you join our email or text list, volunteer, RSVP, or contact us, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, email address, ZIP code, and mobile phone number.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we and our service providers may use cookies, log files, and similar analytics technologies to collect information such as your browser type, device type, pages viewed, and referring page. You can limit cookies through your browser settings; core pages of this site work without them.
- Donation information. Contributions are processed by a third-party payment processor. The processor collects the payment and donor details required to process your contribution and to satisfy campaign-finance reporting obligations (including name, mailing address, occupation, and employer for contributions above reporting thresholds). We receive contribution records from the processor; we do not receive or store your full card number.
2. How we use information
- To send you campaign updates, event invitations, volunteer opportunities, and fundraising messages you have requested;
- To organize volunteer activity and manage event RSVPs;
- To process contributions and comply with campaign-finance laws and reporting requirements;
- To improve this website and understand how visitors use it;
- To protect the security and integrity of the site and our lists.
3. Text-message (SMS) program privacy
If you opt in to receive text messages from Boone for Congress, we collect your mobile number and your consent record (the date, time, and source of your opt-in). We use this information solely to operate the program described in our Terms of Service.
- We will not share or sell your mobile opt-in data or consent with any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile information is shared only with the messaging service providers who deliver messages on our behalf, and only for that purpose.
- Consent to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase, donation, or support.
- Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply.
- You may opt out at any time by replying STOP, or get assistance by replying HELP. Opt-out requests are honored promptly and recorded on our suppression list so you are not messaged again.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- With service providers (such as website hosting, email delivery, text-message delivery, and payment processing) who handle it on our behalf and are bound to use it only for the services they provide to us;
- As required by law, including campaign-finance disclosure obligations that make certain contributor information part of the public record;
- To protect the rights, safety, or property of the Committee or others, or in response to lawful requests by public authorities;
- Mobile opt-in data is excluded from any sharing for marketing purposes, as described in Section 3.
5. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed for the purposes described above, to comply with campaign-finance record-keeping requirements, and to maintain opt-out and suppression records. Consent and opt-out records for the SMS program are retained even after you unsubscribe so that we can honor your preferences.
6. Your rights and choices
- You may unsubscribe from email at any time using the link in any message.
- You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP.
- You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at the address below. We will honor requests except where retention is required by law (for example, campaign-finance records).
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under state law; we will honor applicable rights on verified request.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
8. Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Federal law requires contributors to be at least 18 years old.
9. Links to other sites
This site may link to platforms we do not control (for example, social networks or our payment processor). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, which we encourage you to read.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date above reflects the latest revision, and material changes will be posted on this page.
