- Information you give us. When you sign up, volunteer, RSVP to an event, or contact us, we collect the information you provide: name, email address, ZIP code, mailing address, and (optionally) your mobile phone number.
- Donation information. Contributions are processed by a third-party payment processor. The Committee receives the contribution details it is legally required to collect and report (name, mailing address, occupation, employer, amount, and date), but full payment-card numbers are handled by the processor, not stored by this website.
- Automatically collected information. Like most websites, our hosting and analytics tools may log technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and referring pages, and may use cookies or similar technologies to understand how the site is used and to improve it.
2. How we use information
- To send campaign updates, event invitations, volunteer opportunities, and fundraising requests by email, mail, phone, or text message (where you have opted in).
- To process and legally report contributions as required by federal and state campaign-finance law.
- To organize volunteer activity and events.
- To operate, secure, and improve this website.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. Text message (SMS) program
If you provide your mobile number and check the opt-in box, you consent to receive recurring campaign text messages (SMS/MMS) from Colton for District Attorney, which may be sent using automated technology. Consent is not a condition of any purchase or donation. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out and HELP for assistance.
We will not share or sell your mobile phone number or your opt-in consent data with any third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile opt-in data is used only to operate the Committee's own messaging program, including through the service providers who deliver messages on our behalf. 4. How we share information
- Service providers. We share information with vendors that help us operate — website hosting, email delivery, text-message delivery, donation processing, and data management — who may use it only to provide services to the Committee.
- Legal compliance. Contribution information is reported to election authorities as required by law, and we may disclose information when legally compelled or to protect rights and safety.
- Political activity. Except for mobile opt-in data (which we never share or sell for marketing purposes), supporter information may be shared with or exchanged among aligned political committees and organizations as permitted by law.
- We do not sell your personal information to commercial data brokers.
5. Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purposes above, including for the duration of the campaign and any period required by campaign-finance record-keeping laws, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
6. Your choices and rights
- Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Reply STOP to any text message to opt out of the SMS program.
- You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at the address below. We will honor requests as required by applicable law (note that campaign-finance law requires us to retain certain contribution records).
- Depending on your state, you may have additional privacy rights; we will honor verified requests as the law requires.
7. Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above reflects the latest revision, and material changes will be posted on this page.
