Privacy Policy
Last updated: [Month] [Day], 2026 · Hale for Congress ("the Committee," "we," "us")
This Privacy Policy explains how the Committee collects, uses, and protects information when you visit this website, sign up for updates, volunteer, or donate. By using this site, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
- Information you give us through forms — name, email address, ZIP code, mailing address, and mobile phone number when you join our list, volunteer, RSVP, or contact us.
- Donation information — when you donate, your contribution is processed by our third-party donation processor. The processor collects your payment details; we receive contribution records (name, address, amount, and the employer/occupation information federal law requires us to request) but we do not receive or store your full card number.
- Automatically collected information — like most websites, we and our service providers may collect device, browser, IP address, and usage information through cookies and similar analytics technologies. You can limit cookies through your browser settings; the site remains usable without them.
2. How we use information
- Sending campaign updates, event alerts, volunteer opportunities, and donation requests by email, text message (with your consent), phone, or mail.
- Processing and legally reporting contributions as required by campaign-finance law.
- Organizing volunteer activity and responding to your messages.
- Improving the website and measuring the effectiveness of our outreach.
- Complying with legal obligations.
3. SMS / text-message program privacy
If you opt in to receive text messages from Hale for Congress:
- Your opt-in is voluntary and is not a condition of any purchase or donation.
- We will not share or sell your mobile phone number or your opt-in consent data with any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with or sold to any third party.
- We may use messaging service providers to deliver texts on our behalf; they act only on our instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes.
- You can opt out at any time by replying STOP, or get assistance by replying HELP. Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. See our Terms of Service for the full SMS program terms.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers (such as email, texting, website, and donation-processing vendors) who work on our behalf under confidentiality obligations;
- Government agencies where campaign-finance law requires public reporting of contributions;
- Authorities when required by law, subpoena, or to protect safety and legal rights;
- A successor committee or authorized political organization to the extent permitted by law.
5. Data retention
We keep personal information as long as needed for the purposes above, to satisfy campaign-finance record-keeping requirements, and to honor opt-out requests (we retain minimal suppression records so we do not contact you again after you opt out).
6. Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe from email using the link in any message.
- Stop text messages at any time by replying STOP.
- Contact us at the address below to access, correct, or request deletion of your information, subject to legal record-keeping requirements. Depending on your state, you may have additional privacy rights; we honor applicable state-law requests.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Federal law requires contributors to be at least 18 years old.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version. Material changes will be posted on this page.
