Why I'm Running

A letter to my neighbors

Dear neighbor,

This morning I filed the paperwork to run for State Senate, and I want you to hear why from me first — not from an ad, and not from a mailer.

I have spent fourteen years teaching in our public schools. I have watched brilliant kids share worn-out textbooks, watched their parents work two jobs and still come up short at the end of the month, and watched decisions that shape their lives get made in rooms none of us were invited into. I kept waiting for someone to step up and change that. Somewhere along the way, I realized that waiting is its own kind of decision.

My parents ran a small shop on Main Street for thirty years. They taught me that you keep your word, you balance your books, and you look out for the block you live on. That is the whole platform, honestly. The rest is detail.

I am not a politician. I am a teacher, a daughter, a neighbor — and I believe District 12 deserves a senator who answers to the people in it, and no one else. This campaign starts with zero big backers and one big belief: that a new day is possible when ordinary people decide to build it together.

So this is me, knocking on your door first. Join us today, and let's begin.

With hope and gratitude,

Nina Park

Candidate for State Senate · District 12

The Work Begins Now

Day One Priorities

Five commitments, on the record from the very first day of this campaign.

$

Lower Everyday Costs

Groceries, housing, utilities, prescriptions — take on the costs squeezing working families first.

Strong Neighborhood Schools

Fully staffed classrooms, up-to-date books and buildings, and real career paths for every student.

Safe, Connected Neighborhoods

Well-resourced first responders, safer streets and crossings, and investment in every block — not just some.

Healthcare Close to Home

Protect our local clinics and hospitals, and make seeing a doctor affordable — in town, not hours away.

Honest, Open Government

Publish the calendar, publish the checkbook, and answer to voters — town halls in every part of the district, every year.

First to Stand With Nina

Early voices

Nina showed up for our members before she ever thought about running. When the station needed a voice at the county table, she was it. She'll be that voice for the whole district.

Marcus Bell, President

Anytown Firefighters Association

Fourteen years in a classroom teaches you to listen first and fix what's actually broken. Nina Park is the real thing — our members are proud to be first in line.

Dolores Whitfield, Chair

Retired Teachers of Your State

Her family kept a shop open on Main Street for thirty years. Nina understands what small businesses carry — and what one honest senator could lift off our backs.

Sam Okafor, Director

District 12 Small Business Alliance
